Our Green Policy

Planting new trees

Every project we work on at GMP is carbon balanced, and has been the company’s green printing policy since 2006. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that our clients receive high-quality print solutions without compromising the environment.

We are independently audited by the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Management and offset the carbon produced in our operations by planting broadleaf trees in local community woodland. This proactive approach helps to restore natural habitats, support biodiversity, and absorb CO₂ emissions, making a tangible difference in the fight against climate change.

At the end of every year, GMP presents certificates to our major clients, detailing the number of trees planted to offset the carbon produced in the manufacture and distribution of their jobs. This initiative not only promotes transparency but also allows businesses to see their direct impact on sustainability efforts, reinforcing their own commitment to environmental responsibility.

Since 2016, GMP has planted a total of over 30,000 trees! The planetary impact of this effort is significant, contributing to cleaner air, healthier ecosystems, and long-term environmental benefits. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and sincerely thank our customers for their business, which directly supports these sustainability initiatives.

As standard, we use FSC-accredited papers, ensuring responsible sourcing from sustainable forests. Where specified, we use recycled stock containing a mix of post-consumer waste (PCW). Our printing process is eco-friendly, using chemical-free presses, vegetable-based inks, and organic toners, all of which minimise harmful emissions and waste.

Waste reduction is also a priority at GMP. We recycle paper, board, plastic, and glass throughout the company, resulting in less than 1% of our waste going to landfill. By continuously refining our processes, we remain committed to reducing our environmental footprint while maintaining the highest standards of print production.
